Vinyl Villains, established in 1983, is one of a small number of surviving old-school record shops. A combination of factors, which include economic conditions and the increasing reliance on the internet for shopping, has killed off two-thirds of our independant record retailers. I tend to hope that the main reason for Vinyl Villains' continued survival, (although there has been a few close shaves!) is that there are still a huge number of like-minded people out there, with a discerning taste in music, who refuse to be brainwashed into accepting the regurgitated gunge that passes for culture today.

At Vinyl Villains we welcome you if you want a well informed, hands-on music buying experience, willing to dig for the undiscovered rare sounds, or are looking to expand your musical knowledge.

Among the hidden treasures you will find gems like these: Heavy vinyl re-issues of cassic Soul and Jazz LP's, original 70's classic rock & prog LP's in excellent condition, a selection of heavy-metal picture discs, punk 7" singles with picture sleeves, and high quality cotton T-shirts featuring many obscure but iconic cult heroes.

We cover all genres of music including Jazz, Blues, Folk, Metal, Hip-hop, Soundtracks, and World music. Although we specialise in collectable vinyl, we also deal in CD's & DVD's. You are bound to find many items that are not available in megastores and shopping malls.

Here is a small list of some of our personal favourites : Led Zeppelin, The Cramps, Tom Waits, Toots & the Maytals, Otis Redding, Mudhoney, Can, Elvis (50's), The Clash, Aretha Franklin, Bowie, Lee Perry, Velvet Underground, Fela Kuti, Bonnie Prince Billy, Nick Drake, The Stooges, John Coltrane, Eno, L7, Baba Maal, Ry Cooder, The Beatles (mid-period), XTC, Sandy Denny, (early) Floyd, SAHB, (early) Stones, Joy Division, Tindersticks, The Who.

We are always looking for good quality record collections as well as CD's and DVD's, for which we will pay fair prices.
